Some locs are natural, some aren't. There are real locs that people grow, and fake locs that people buy.
Everyone is special in some way.
Hope this helps, Kaya

Yes, dreadlocks are natural.
If you leave your hair alone and don't do anything with it, it will naturally lock on its own. However, they won't really look all that great. There are a few different methods to starting locks though.
I have locks, and I started mines by twisting my hair in small individual sections. That way, it always looks neat.
As far as what you mean by "special people"... I really don't know. But, it does take a lot of committment and patience to grow locks. Especially since the actual locking process can take months to a year. Also, everyone has different reasons for locking their hair. For some, its just a style. But, for others... it is much more than that.
P.S... yes, you can wash your hair when you have locks. You're not supposed to wash it frequently when you are just starting your locks out, because it could cause them to unravel. But, during that time they have waterless shampoo that you can use to keep your hair clean and smelling fresh.

Dreadlocks are natural in that anyone who just leaves their hair alone and never bother with it or disturb it in any way, their hair will dreadlock.
Personally, I prefer more cultivated manicured dreadlocks.
I do not elevate the status of those with locs above anyone else's, nor do I lower it. I don't think they're more special than anyone else. It takes emotional commitment to grow locs, and dedication, but I don't think this makes loc wearers any more special than anyone else.
Some who grow dreadlocks do it for religious reasons. Perhaps these are seen by other's in their religion as being special for growing locs, I don't know. But in general, they are just the same as everyone else.

Some dreads are so beautiful and neat and clean that I think that there must be a "synthetic" way to create them besides just waiting for your hair to get all matted naturally. Some homeless people have the natural kind, and it's gross. But the more functioning people have a way to make them stylin', and organized aesthetically. I've questioned this before.

you can grow your hair out naturally into dreadlocks, if you dont wash them for ages & have a certain texture of hair. but u can get fake ones put in. y are they special? i dont think so, just have the ability to go around with stinking dirty hair & not care

yes and no, its not true...anyone can lock their hair..it's just easier if you have curly hair...
Locking ur hair is supposed to mean ur a Rastafarian....these ppl are religious ppl...but now ppl do it as a hair style.
Just to let u know if u lock ur hair and go to Jamaica, the true Rastafarians may cut ur head off, for mocking their religion...(lol, maybe those are the "special" ones ur talking about)
OMG..are u ppl retarted....Dread locks ARE natural & can u can wash ur hair with locks...GOSH!!!!!!!!
All dred locks is is hair that is twisted and matted on to each other....It's actually more natural than combing ur hair...this is what Rastafarian and dreads are all about..U PPL...????
