Think about this. Given the TIME and EFFORT you put into submitting this question, I'll bet that you could have worked out the first couple of these, and this INCLUDES looking at example problems in your textbook!!!

I'm not knocking you I just think that it would be better to spend the time trying to understand the concepts so that you'll REALLY be benefitting from your efforts, (you'll do better on exams)

I remember what it was like not understanding math, but just try to understand one thing at a time,.. work the problems out. Treat them like PUZZLES. It really can be fun, and useful too! REALLY!

Let's try the first one:

39x^6
_____
15x

We're dealing with EXPONENTS here. Just to show you what's going on we'll rewrite this as:

39xxxxxx
------------
15x

We can CANCEL one "x":

39xxxxx
-----------
15

Which is:

39x^5
---------
15

If you understand what EXPONENTS are and what we just did,.. you're halfway done w/ this problem. BUT it's not always a good idea to write out all of those "x's". It's easier to remember that you SUBTRACT THE EXPONENT ON THE BOTTOM from THE EXPONENT ON THE TOP. In our case it was 6 - 1 = 5. We only wrote it out to help you UNDERSTAND why this is so.

NOW you need to reduce:

39x^5
--------- =
15

(3*13)x^5
-------------
(3*5)

Cancel out the "3's" (like we cancelled the "x's"):

13x^5
--------
5
============
Maybe that wasn't much fun, BUT if you step through it and UNDERSTAND,.. you'll be able to do more problems like this and it won't be so much of a chore!!

Study hard & Good Luck!
