Thats like when your walking down the street and there is a hooded, black, big, scary guy who's grunting like he has a hemmaroid problem. In the past, perhaps you have been mugged? Top down Processing is enabling you to "draw pre-conceived conclusions" that are probably untrue and inaccurate. You're filling in the blanks based on your past experience so instead of walking past the "harmless" yet scary dude...you walk to the other side of the street
