My first comment would be that we would have to be careful because we shouldn't want to stop all govt. spending. For example, my state is 40th or 41st in terms of spending on education, and is also ranked 40th in quality of education in the nation (also ranked last in number of high school graduations as only about half graduate). I personally wouldn't mind spending a little more money on education in my state, and improve our ranking. I really don't like being on the bottom 10 of the nation in education, esp. because Florida is not the bottom 10 of the nation's poverty, we just spend on our children like we are.
Now stopping spending money on turkeys, like that bridge to nowhere in Alaska, or projects like that and others sure, that would be great. Supposedly there have been many that were passed in the last term because there were Republicans in the Congress, Senate, and then no vetos from the Republican President, in other words no checks and balances since there was all one party majority. And I don't blame the Republicans completely, because I'm sure an all Democrat party would have done the same. I think it is good that there is now a balance between the Republican and Democratic party; I think that there will be less spending as a result.
Maybe they should have a final Turkey committee that should review the budget for "turkeys" before it is headed out to the President, although it might be hard to find those that are honest enough to actually weed them out. You would probably really offend the Senators by calling their pet projects "turkeys" and their fellow politicians would probably not want to do that...
I also think another huge way to stop government spending will be to end the Iraq war. It is devastating to our economy: billions of dollars which we have borrowed from China and will have to be paying off for a long time. Another reason the war is so expensive is that they entered into no-bid contracts which are extremely unwise, instead of entering into the lowest or lower bid contracts. If you are buying a house, do you just buy a house and not ask for a price (which is what they've essentially done with no-bid contracts), or try to get a good price, or a fair price? And they have lost a lot of money as well, not much if any financial/oversight of the contracts.

there is not something capitalistic approximately huge regulation and extensive government oversight. Progressives love accountable capitalism for all recessions, yet peaks and valleys are recent in all economies, no count if or not they're capitalist or statist. the fact is, whilst government performs a smaller place in how the economic equipment runs, the economic equipment has a tendency to do greater useful, and background helps that. The roaring 20’s have been a right away results of massive deregulation and tax cuts on agencies, as became into the growth interior the 1980’s, and specific, even President Bush became into waiting to create 8 million new jobs. And the recessions that accompanied have been a right away result from government intervention. maximum economists agree that the super melancholy became into not end results of the Harding’s or Coolidge’s economic rules, yet quite the FED manipulating quotes of interest. And the recent disaster had not something to do with tax cuts, and had each and every little thing to do with collusion between government officers and massive banks. government is the subject.

You miss understand this, we spent the money to bring her here to testify, yes. It was to be able to put pressure on Japan in many ways. With this public of Japan in Korea pushes them to pay the people that they made slaves, and for us to push for better deals with us, those in congress, not the U.S. people.. If your in congress your only interested in things that will make you money, and support to stay in office. Even foreign money can keep you in office.

Vote out ALL Incumbents and keep on doing so until they get the idea.
Start electing third party candidates. Both major parties have already sold thier souls.

I'm with you. It's hard to think of a reason for it and there are so many other ludicrous wastes of money in government! I suggest revising lawmakers' post-retirement benes to match ordinary citizens'.
Government jobs (high level) shouldn't be a place for people to get rich.

I don't really get your question, but as far as government spending goes, in order to stop wrongful spending, we need to stop electing Liberals.
