I had my first one yesterday. I also have large breasts. (DD). Mine have been through breast feeding two kids and cheerleading when I was a teenager so a lot of the muscle has "given up" lol, but to tell you the truth regarding the mammogram, I was really angry that women have made such a big deal about the pain. All I have ever heard my entire life is how much it hurt. I was more uncomfortable with the cold machine and cold techs hands then the squeezing during the xray part. If you are cooperative and still for the 5 seconds it takes once you are in position for the xray to be taken then its no biggie at all!! I think by listening to all of the horror stories about the "pain", if I had not found a lump in my breast last week (im 40), I probably would have put this off for many years due to unrealistic fears. If you have ever had a boyfriend touch your breasts the way most boyfriends do during intimate times, then you can do this and will probably laugh at how much it didnt hurt! We all need to spread the word that the "pain" part of a mammogram is way over exaggerated and if someone gets a tech that isnt as careful and helpful as they should be, the 5 seconds of a little pressure is still totally worth what it could tell you if there was anything wrong and you caught it early.

YOU CAN DO IT!! :)

They have new machines now at certain hospitals that have a spring-like thing and it doesn't hurt a bit. Was only a little bit squeezy before that and didn't *hurt* anyway, was just uncomfortable for a few seconds.

It is not a pleasant experience, but it is not that bad either. Do it if your doctor prescribed it. It is important. Good luck.
