The 8GB Nano is about the same price as the 30GB video, because it is about 1/5th the weight and less than 1/4 the size of the 30GB unit. The technology to make an 8GB unit this size is more expensive. Also, the 8GB has about 20 hours battery life compared to 8 hours with the video 30GB unit.

The 30GB iPod also has a larger screen. Are you sure you've got the prices right? By the way, with a little modifying, an iPod Nano can play video. Still though, it's a small screen...

They should not be the same price, although the nano might have a slight premium because it's smaller. Yeah, smaller electronics sometimes carry a premium.
Also, keep in mind that discontinued models may have cheaper prices just to get them our of inventories. The 30GB Video is discontinued.

One is a lot smaller. if a small size is important to you, then you go with the Nano. That is what I did. who wants a iPod video while working out at the gym.
