About six years ago I weighed 200lbs. I am now 132lb- 5 2". I am now six weeks pregnant and am so scared of putting on the pound again. I have been watching what I eat and drinking lots of water. I'd some kind of road map I can follow. Any suggestions?

Weight Watchers won't let you attend meetings while you're pregnant, but they have a plan that is absolutely perfect for pregnancy. It's called Core - you eat whole grains, lots of vegetables, and low-fat foods. Basically you ditch everything that's processed and stick to natural, healthy meals and snacks. You don't have to count anything - you just eat until you are comfortably satisfied. It really is a fantastic plan. If I were you, I'd print out a synopsis of it (you can find one easily by googling for it) and take it to your doctor. Anything you decide should be approved by your OB, anyway.

Good luck and congratulations!

While i understand your fear- i hope you realize that you ARE going to gain weight, and it's ok. Basically a good pregnancy diet falls into the same guidelines as any other healthy diet- with some minor exceptions. like, you want to watch your fish intake because the high mercury count is very bad for the baby. Lot's of fruits, veges, and lean proteins are great. but you're also going to need to eat those carbs! your body will need a lot more energy now that there's a tiny little human growing in there! and don't deprive yourself of your cravings! The bottom line is, you're going to get big, no matter how careful you are, so remember to enjoy the pregnancy for what it is! and Congratulations!

a lot of good suggestions already. along with those, eat everything in moderation. Keep as active as possible . lots of water. avoid the white stuff.....white sugar, flour, bread etc. go for the whole grains. i gained almost 40 lbs with all 4 pregnancies. Dont stress about the extra weight, it Will come off if you work at it and are determined. good luck

I know your fear- but let it go- this is not the time to worry about it! Enjoy your pregnancy and do your best to eat fruits and vegetables and the such. The book-"What to expect when you are expecting" has a guide for eating right in the appendix of the book- I found it very helpful to me. Good Luck.
