Do NOT make potions you find on the internet! Please, please, please!!! If they have any basis in real magic and are not properly formulated you can put your life, your soul, or those of others in danger. Consult texts, and even then you still got to be careful. I am not a mage, I went the other way on that one, but I am told the safest and most effective book to recommend a novice is Nehual's Alchemy. It was originally written in ancient Greek so the name of your translation may vary: Formulations, Formulas, etc. Make sure, however, you've found a translation you trust, and don't expect to find a HaperCollins or Random House edition... Tread lightly you will be entering dangerous waters; know that if you gain power and meet corruption there are those, good and evil, who will seek you out to further their own goals.

Those that have tried and useful potions do not give them up freely. Craft does not mean charity. Also, beginning potions can be plain, old, common sense. Hot lemonade with a dob of honey and a dissolved aspirin is a potion for a cold.

I hope you understand. Potions are not to play Magick with, they are tools of a craft. The creation of Potions and Herbalism are twin crafts in the discipline.

An Aside: Aspirin derived from the chemical content of Willow bark. It's just easier to use an aspirin rather than peeling and preparing the bark powder for the drink.

I am afraid you would be dissapointed. It isn't at all like harry potter...there are several types of potions. Infusions (tea) decoctions (boiled herbs) and tinctures (alcohol extractions). To make a successful potion you should harvest the herbs at the right phase of the moon & the correct planentary hour for the desired outcome. http://www.bewitchingways.com/charts/hours/hours_chart.htm

Then the herbs must be charged with energy. To make an infusion gather the herbs that best suit your need wash them and place them in a vessel (bottle coffee mug etc) that has been cleansed and consecrated as a tool of art. (consult cunninghams encyclopedia of magical herbs http://www.amazon.com/Cunninghams-Encyclopedia-Magical-Llewellyns-Sourcebook/dp/0875421229 or Beryl's masters book of herbalism
http://www.amazon.com/Master-Book-Herbalism-Paul-Beyerl/dp/0919345530)
harvesting them at the proper time, charge them with your magical energy, either through visualization or chant, or any other way that you find helpful in energy raising, boil water, pour water over the herbs & steep, you could also consider numerology and the value of numbers in how long you steep the herbs. For a decoction you need to place the herbs is a cauldron or pot that has been cleansed & consecrated as a tool of art, boil for the appropriate number of minutes, strain & use or store in an air tight container in a bottle that has also been clensed & consecrated as a tool of art...

the most important thing to remember is the witches pyramid... learn it & understand it! Act in accord & your magic will find it's way to fruition
