work. I need to know what to do or something I can download. The games is Rainbow 6 but the ravenshield is a component for it and it is rather old and will not take on the vista. Any suggestions??

No suggestions other than to wait for the manufacturer of that game to provide updates for Vista.

Haven't touched MS Vista yet (company is avoiding it for now, I'm doing the same for home computers) but I thought it had an option for "XP mode" for applications. You might want to check the Rainbow 6 web forums and see if anyone else has resolved the problem too. I want to say this is an older Clancy game so you may not get active support but some dedicated player and computer geek out there may have solved and posted their solution on the forums.

Other than that, I'd say downgrade to MS Windows XP, probably not the best answer but it would be my preference. MS Vista doesn't offer any capabilities I need. MS Vista has taken control of the OS out of the end users hands and put it in content providers hands with the DRM restrictions. As more content becomes available online, I'd still like the flexibility of playing it on multiple platforms (PC, consoles, TV, etc...). Maybe when the "got to have it" game comes out that only supports DirectX 10, I'll get it then. Until that time, I'll hold out until at least SP1 and more hardware/software support.

check to see if the game is compatible with vista
or check to see if vista can accomodate the ravenshield component and/or game
you may have to go to the game website to see if it's compatible with vista if it doesn't say on the game cover
