I would go along the lines of:
You are leaving and this is your month's notice - what job are you going to.
Next paragraph - that you will be sorry to leave them, having worked there so long - you have learned some excellent skills which will stand you in good stead in your new role - Mr X, your supervisor, has been an excellent communicator/very flexible/patient/good teacher.
you will miss them all very much but this new job is an oppportunity that's too good to miss - something you've always wanted to do
Thanks for all your support, love from xxxxx
It doesn't hurt not to burn your bridges. You will still need a reference and you never know if you might need them in the future......

"As of March 6, 2007, I am resigning from my position as Administrative Assistant. I greatly appreciate the opportunities that I have given here, and have nothing but respect for the management of the company."
You need not (and should not) say more.

I love working here. The people are great and the job is truly challenging and rewarding. It is the best job I ever had and I don't know how I would ever get along without it, but starting two weeks from today I am sure as hell going to find out.

I had to do this from my first job of teaching and it was SO hard. I loved my job and my friends and my administrators.
You have to keep it simple and keep the personal stuff out. You can write thankyou notes to the people you care about seperately.
This site has lots of samples of how to keep it simple.
