I am tired of my heritage being paraded around in the form of some stereotypical blonde bearded charicature with a large hat with horns. This nonsense must stop! Until the day where we have mascots devoid of any stereotype of any race whatsoever the world will be an unsafe place for children and we will be at the verge of a nuclear winter. Who's with me!?

I would argue that the use of one mascot vs another can't necessarily be equated in those terms... as being comparable, since people of Nordic descent haven't endured centuries of oppression, genocide, and prejudice, or had their country stolen out from under them, or been traded blankets intentionally contaminated with small pox. The mascot you mention just doesn't carry the same historical freight as other mascots... especially since there are no Vikings living today as an identifiable group.

Only if I can braid my beard, wear a horned hat and wave a battle axe around!

But good luck with your campaign! And I agree, protesting sports mascots is rather silly.

I know what you're getting at.

I'm so fed up with diversity and multi-culturalism.

Look at government brochures, posters, literature, school curriculums, TV and children's shows and the message is clear -- celebrate everyone's race, except that of people of European heritage.

You never see any kids shows talking about how neat the Swedish culture is or how fascinating Austria is or anything like that. I think that sends a bad message.

And just because the majority of Hollywood is white and jewish and just because the majority of big business is white or jewish doesn't mean anything. These people don't represent me. The only thing they celebrate is fame and fortune.

Sorry, Im not with you on this one, I really can't understand why anyone is offended by it, everyone looks at sports teams like they are heroes and many teams are honored, I would think this would be a compliment. Personally I don't care what anyone thinks of my race, I am happy being what I am.

Um, stand outside the stadiums with a sign. Go on line and try to find others who feel the same. Keep protesting until your voice is heard. Educate on the racism that using these names have. Then change the public thought.

Send a press release to Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson--they're always ready to fight for oppressed races. Also, get the ACLU involved--I'm sure they would help.
