Since things run in cycles I would say about 20 years. You see, after 20 years of progress under the Democrats we'll have to stop and take a breath and maybe a step backwards at some point so then it will be time again for Republicans. When people are tired of stagnation or regression or both then the Democrats will gain power again. They cycle has gone on like this from the beginning and continues.

What if only people not receiving direct government assistance were allowed to vote? What if only property owners were allowed to vote? What if only people who could pass a test about the Constitution were allowed to vote?

Ps. Motor Voter is just another way to bring disinterested uninformed people into the process. No wonder democrats are all for it.

If ALL American adults were to vote and maybe get involved in
the process, believe ALL current Parties would be taking notice.
Our government might not be a political game but rather
"Of, By, and For" the People.

it would be viewed as a Democratic idea, making people angry, so they would vote republican. After they got past that people who weren't interested in politics, had no clue about history, economics, current policies etc would be in the booth going eenie, meanie, miney, moe......to pick, just to stay out of trouble. People who don't have the time or interest to want to vote, could be a negative if forced to vote.

If Americans were required to vote, you'd get a lot of write-ins for Donald Duck.
The Independents would win in a landslide.
We are a stubborn, spiteful people.
We don't like to be told what to do..

A wise sage once said..

If your not a liberal by 25 you have no heart

If your not a conservative by 30 you have no brain

Therefore using that undesputed logic...the GOP would NEVER be out of Power

right you are! it's a damned shame that you have to be a legal citizen before us mean ol' American people will allow you to vote in our elections, eh! and the imprisoned felons aren't allowed to vote either! can you believe that? I have a better question, if you required one to be informed before voting, how long would the Dems be out of power?

Until 2008, when most of the Democrats would be out of Congress, and Newt Gingrich would be President.

This could go either way. People get smarter and more mature as they get older and tend to vote more conservatively. But there is a large group of people who would vote democratic.. So I really don't know.. this could go either way..
