A lot of these answers show just how ignorant Republicans are about the ACLU. The GOP has gone to the ACLU with cases against campaign reform, saying the cases violated their free speech. The ACLU takes these cases and has won several of them. The ACLU defends everyone's Civil Rights. The Republicans don't appreciate anyone who fights for their rights whether it's the ACLU or troops who are wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan. Look how badly they mocked medal winning Vietnam veterans in the last Presidential election. Of course the ACLU would defend these disgraceful displays as free speech rights.

I thought the ACLU was the American Communist Liberation Union. They are too far left for MOST of the lefties I know.
Out of all their babbleing...I have seen about 2 issues they have take up that were worth a darn.

Just another example of why the ACLU is so important to the right wing in this country. First the ACLU took up the mantle of free speech for the Klan, then the American Nazi Party and now this. What's next? fighting for Rush Limbaugh's right to spew hate speech on commercial airwaves????
