I work in a company that the average person has been here 5+ years and anyone who has less senority is ignored. The position that I was hired for has been dummied down so that my boss would not offend the two other people in the department. We wouldn't want them to be upset that they had done anything wrong.....After a short time I relaized that I worked with perfect people.

This was not meant to be a condecending question. My position was to review and supervise the other two positions.

The educational experience is considered to be worthless when compaired to years of service; as my coworkers have at least 7 years here. If the enviornment did not want new blood, then why bring it in?

On a normal day after my revelation, I keep quite and keep documenting the corrections; my boss wants me to fix them quietly without anyone knowing. But if I miss one, then all he__ breaks loose. Go figure; it doesn't help that my coworkers try and keep the stuff from me, as they do nothing wrong.

In the same situation, I am the only one with a college education and have the respectability level of -1. I have never worked in a corporate environment that education and knowledge were shunned. But alas, that is where I find myself until something better comes along.

On a brighter note, you could continue to sit there and be miserable or you could chose to be proactive and look for something else.

Sounds like you'd be best to find a job somewhere else.

Based on your description, this is what I call a "stagnant" company. It's not growing or downsizing so turnover is slow. That's why most everyone has at least 5+ years experience. People then get "entrenched" in their positions and change is minimized. This breeds narcissism (i.e., I'm the best at my job!)

I, personally, would find this atmostphere stiffling! I worked at a place like that once. They did not take kindly to my suggestions on how to improve things. In the end I left because I didn't fit in.

If after a while you find the atmosphere there stiffling, look for another job at another company.

I would say things that are facts that couldn't be disputed and see what the reaction is. Like say "There was a candle left burning unattended on the conference room table".

This way you are not pointing fingers, you are just pointing out a trouble spot and see what the response is. If there is no response, say innocently "Do you know anything about this?" Then go on to say I am worried about the safety of our staff and our building. Point out "pro company" baloney to make them think you're a cheerleader and not a finger pointer.

Here is some advice. I talked to my gran father who worked 6 yrs in a job and was in the same boat. He told me he could never move up, it didn't matter he had a college degree .

Anyways, he changed his job . Moved to another company , he was there for 30 ys, he became a boss and he did moved up the food chain.
I would switch to another company before you waste your life away

Dont acknowlege them or show them how "perfect" they are. Just knod your head to whatever they say and ignore them. A person can be really smart and perfect but without other people telling them they are smart or perfect they feel insecure and dumb because thats the way that humans think.

So all in all dont show that they are superior to you and that will make your workday better. hope that helps.

WELL, I know it is hard to ignore them, but what ever you do just dont tell them off. i am in 8th grade, and i am sure you think, oh wow, a 8th grader, but no, i deal with these people all the time. you will probly get in trouble if you tell them off, and im sure you cant ignore them. I would just try to be iight with them a little bit because honestly i see this every day. there is a boy named rudy that does the same thing. but now that i m kool wid him he aint as annoing.

Perfect people make me nutso. We have one of them here and I had one of the people who reported to me work with him because I wanted to rip his head off. I generally just excuse myself from all conversations quickly and never ask them any questions. I also know that they will manipulate or lie about any situation to absolve themselves of wrongdoing. I would just keep track of exactly what happened and present it to them. Good luck.

Ignore the know-it-alls and just keep doing your job to the best of your ability. Your talent and intelligence will eventually outshine them. It's inevitable.

My co-workers and I are smart, but there is one employee that isn't. I can see how that person would be uncomfortable around us. Which is fine, because that person is an idiot and the less they talk the better it is at work.
