I am wandering how real good directors are able to get started on a film that will be seen in theaters. Like do they get asked to by some company or do they themselfs go looking for supporters or do they buy everying themselves? How does it begin?

Well, depends. If someone else is producing the movie, then they will go out and look for directors. If the director is also a producer or a screenwriter, then instead of having someone ask them to direct a film, they can write, produce, and direct the whole thing. When you say "they themselfs go looking for supporters or do they buy everying themselves," that's an example of a producer/director. Obviously, the easiest way to get a job would be to be a producer or screenwriter along with a director, and many directors are all 3. You could write a story, gather the people and materials to make it, and then head the whole operation, and therefore, not wait or look for a job. It's this "triple threat" that pretty much requires all directors to have some kind of producing/screenwriting experience. Hope this helps!
