ya know i'm a 24 old mother of a 7rd old and 5yr old boys. I had an epidural with my first son, didn't feel a thing til after. I had serious migrane headaches caused by the blood not filling the hole the epidural was in and i couldn't lift my head off the pillow for two months. I could barely raise up enough to hold my baby for maybe 5 minutes at a time. My second I had nothing. Yes it hurt like heck but as soon as it is out, you don't feel anymore pain at all. No headaches, no worries, no nothing. To me the huge amount of pain for just a little while is better than the chance of something to happen to me again like it did with my first child. Of course it is up to you.

It's possible to have a relaxed delivery. Now a days you can get the epidural as soon as you get into the hospital. If your epidural takes completely I think you could have a completely pain free labor. Every delivery is different. I know when i got my epidural i was in so much pain but when it kicked in i went right to sleep.Good luck

Its as close to a pain free delivery as you'll get. You'll still be in pain until they give you the epidural, and everyone takes to the epidural differently.
Mine was great and all I felt was pressure no pain but my friends epidural only took to one side of her body so she was still in some pain.

Yes it is!! My first daughter, Kaylee. Was born with the use of an epidural! I didn't feel hardly anything. Maybe a little pressure but deffinatly not pain! I couldn't feel anything from my waist down. But my 2nd daughter Kelsee, well she came to fast for the epidural. And belive me that pain I wouldn't wish on my worst enimy. Then with my 3rd little angel (Alyssa) they put the epidural on a drip. And I was laughing during the pushing process! So if you are considering getting an epidural when you have your baby! I would deffinatly recomend it! Good luck with your little one (if you have one on the way) and God Bless!

I had an epidural when I gave birth this past fall, and it didn't work at all for me. They were never able to figure out why. Just know that it is possible that it might not work.

I don't think it will ever be "pain free" but an epidural might help.

Labor contractions are not pain free, and can go on for quite awhile before delivery. While this small cut may help, it still has to heal and it does save tearing in the wrong direction. Best wishes

They like for you to be at least 4cm before you get the epidural....but those first 4 or not usually too hard won....it will be painful, but not overbearingly so.

yes, but everything comes with pro's and con's. read into it before you decide painfree is the way to go. i know mums who have ended up with chronic back pain after epidural, but also mums who have been fine. made an educated decision and be willing to change your mind if when the time comes you need to
