No, I haven't had sex with anyone-still a virgin. I thought since I'm 19 now that periods would be predictable but in my case it's always been on awkward schedules. Most of the time it's either 1 or two I miss my period but this is the longest. I'm thinking it has to do with my weight loss/gain(5lbs), stress from college & work. But recently, my mom's been getting paranoid and getting on my case about it. She's convinced something is wrong with me, when really there isn't. I don't do drugs, drink, have sex, or anything of that sort. But I am convinced it's from stress since October and so forth has had many bumps along the road for me. The hing is when I did have last in October of '06 was that it lasted only 3 days which I know is fine...but since my mom's being paranoid, I'm starting to be paranoid about it too. She says she wants to me to go see a doctor and I don't know if that's necessary. Do you guys have any info. or experience the same thing?
*I need help NOTcriticism.

Hunny, join the club! I have had the same thing for as long as I can remember having a period. I go MONTHS! I have gone 9 months before and not been pregnant. It is a running joke in my house about when I may finally have it. My mom, instead of calling it a "monthly," she calls it my "semi annually" LOL. I have been to the Dr for it and all they can do is give you hormones to make you have it, which is probably not a bad idea at this point. You probably need to go ahead and make you an appointment! Beware though you will be MOODY! The hormones really affect your mood in ways I would have never imagined. I did not even want to be around myself LOL. Just don't be surprised when you do have one it is going to be VERY heavy! But I am going through the same thing and I am almost 27 so you are definitely not alone and it is not an age thing. BTW October must have been a good month for us both cause that is the last time I had mine as well LOL.

Good Luck to you and think of it as a positive thing....you never have to worry about periods!

If you're nineteen and still having extremely irregular periods, it probably is a good idea that you see a doctor so that you can get some help with that. It could be caused by stress, but honestly, since you've had problems with irregular periods for a while now, I think you should probably talk to your doctor about you maybe having a hormonal imbalance. There are certain female health issues that could cause you to stop menstruating, but it is rare to stop menstruating from one of them without experiencing pain from the conditions I'm thinking of.

Stress can cause you to skip maybe one or two periods, but I don't think it's healthy at all for you to be skipping four or five, and I doubt that extreme is caused by stress. Losing or gaining just a few pounds like you've said that you have should not affect your menstrual cycle.

I have to ask you if you had any sexual contact whatsoever with a male around the time you stopped menstruating. While I am unsure of whether there are documented cases or not, any ejaculate near enough to the vagina could cause a pregnancy.

I really feel that you should talk to a doctor about getting you on a low-dose birth control pill to regulate your hormones to the point that you have a regular period, because it's really not healthy to not menstruate at all.

I am experiencing the same thing right now. I'm 19 too, actually it happened once in 2003, I had my period in December of 2002 and I was NOT pregnant and I got it again back to normal 8 months later in August. I never got it checked out, because I know there is nothing wrong with me.

My husband is in Iraq and I haven't had sex since he left last summer, the last time I got my period was in December (three months already). I'm not really stressed, I've been stressed, and I'm definately not pregnant, so I figured it's just because I'm young. It'll come, it can't stay away forever.

You're probably right as stress can interfere with your cycle. However I really do think you should go to the doctor and get a check up in case there is another reason.

I agree with your mum. She's not being paranoid, honestly.

Hope that helps

I don't want to add to your paranoia but you should really get it checked out. You may have a type of cancer or you said you have lost a bit of weight. If your anorexic or bulimic you may not get your period because of nutrition. Are you on birth control? some types can cause you to only get a period every six months depending on the dosage...Don't be afraid of the doctor, if you wait something simple can turn into something very serious.

Your weight-loss could desire to be affecting your cycle in case you're on the thin facet.... a pair years in the past i began out getting my era approximately as oftentimes as you're, and that i had lost approximately 10 pounds inadvertantly. as quickly as I gained back many of the load my era became greater properly-known back. you may visit a doctor and talk your recommendations. ie. delivery administration pills to assign you a greater generic and doable cycle.

I think that you should just go to the doctors. I know that the doctors suck, but your cycle might be changing and only the doctor can precribe something to help you.
