I like my house in Skingrad for the fact I have a woman servant who makes me Shepard's pie and a special wine. Plus it is a big house with a lot in it and hidden flawless jewels somewhere I won't ruin the surprise. Just look in high places for a letter. But you do not just stop at buying a house, you have to buy the decor for the house as well, and once you buy the servant's quarters that is when the woman offers you her services and to live with you for 250 gold. My second awesome house I adore is in Bruma, it is like a hunting cabin for me. The purpose of a house is to store goods and to have a place to stay when you want to sleep and all if you do not want to spend money in a lodge. a House in each town to buy. Skingrad is the most expensive in buying the house and decor.

If you want a decent house without too many strings attached, buy the house in Bruma or the house in Cheydinhal. The home in Skingrad requires a lot of fame and a lod of extra money to upgrade. Personally, I'd take the one in Bruma-plenty of space and storage, nice looking, not too expensive.
The one in Bruma is 10000, and the one in Cheydinhal is 15000.
The NICEST one is in Skingrad. It'll put you back 25000, requires a fame of 15, and more for the upgrades and servant. So, go for a decent, less expensive house. The only cool thing that comes with the Skingrad house is the quest to find an old jewelry cache and a nice enchanted ring, but it's not worth the money you dump on the house.

The most expensive house is the house in Skingrad. The house costs 25,000 and then another 23,000 in furnishings. This house also allows the chance to have a maid which provides you with unlimited mead and Shepard's pie which can help if you have alchemy. (with the servant's quarters upgrade) Houses allow storage and a place to sleep. When the Skingrad house is fully furnished it looks beautiful. I think the price was well worth it
