look around at older couples, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles...they seem to have it figured out...what has happened to the sanctity of love and comittment?

Well nowdays people are heading towards western culture and environment and which is not easy for everyone one of us to follow and then these television serials, they have nearly effect the 90% of our society. Today in each and every channel we are watching some or the other negativity due to which peoples mind are manupulating like that.
So, it is required to enter into that relationship in which there is a better understanding between the two.

My real intention to answer to your question is to tell you that as long as there are youngsters who will ask the above question there is hope for India.
It is not the influence of media or western media. It is the lack of guidance from the revered elders. They spent more time and energy in sanctimoniously scourging filth and looking at prety / handsome grooms and brides who fit in astrologically and forgot to pass down the wisdom and the virtue of tolerance to their children. Our parents grew up frustrated, they passed it all down!!! And they blame the not so conservative and liberal India of today.
Hypocricy!
Thats the 'WHY'; here's more ...
What can you and I do - Remember to spend more time with our kids, watch the TV with them, talk with them. NO not being a 'Friend' they need a Mother and Father. Friends - they will find. But as parents we ought to be 'approachable' to our kids.
My students dont fear me - they Respect me. I'm not their friend - I'm their teacher.
Parents ought to find that balance and pray for their children too, to have marital bliss - not condone their mismatched depraved life just because they chose their life partners by themselves.
Boils down there. Parents wanted to choose, but when children wanted to do the same they (the parents) became childish and cursed and drew away from the lives of their own children and did not give their blessings for the future ... Simple.

Television is responsible for the downfall of society, for a variety of reasons. Televisions deteriorate family life by reducing time spent actually enjoying each other's company. They have shows where fake families spend a half hour insulting each other and infidelity is celebrated.
