It would certainly give a lot of hope to people in the process of coming out so they would realise that not everyone fits the stereotype... and, as stated above, show that gay people can do anything straight people can do.

They would be doing a great service to those with the same issues and, probably more importantly for them, leave even more of a legacy than just their sporting achievements - especially if they come out while still active in the sport.

I think these masculine gay men definately need to come out the closet and let it be known that they're gay. Quit hiding and letting homosexuality be so taboo. The more gay masculine men come out in the public eye the better. They know that feminine gay men exist, it's kind of always assumed that they grew up wrong and just been around girls.

I think it's about time.

Of course there are LGBT people in the professional sports communities. The more sports people that acknowledge they are LGBT, the easier it will be for the next LGBT teen who wants to pursue sports, but feels excluded.

More power to them!

I think it's great. But it would be even better that they come out of the closet while still employed as opposed to waiting until they retire.

It can only be a good thing. It definitely puts to rest the idea that gays are all sissy girlie men who can't be masculine, that and it shows younger gay men that it is possible to excel and not feel left out in the cold.

I think it's cool. It breaks some of those stupid stereotypes that gay men are all effeminate and wear dresses and are hair stylists or interior designers and all that crap.

Extremely brave thing to do...but it shouldn't be...in this day and age it should not have be an act of bravery because you should have nothing to fear. Being gay is normal. You should acept it.

I think it would be very difficult for him/her. This society is just too prejudiced to make it easy. But it would be really great for gays, lesbians around the world.
