My suggestion would be to first determine what is causing anxiety-life stress, interpersonal troubles, housing market crash, or a physical ailment? Either way, I know from experience that chamomile tea works as a herbal remedy. Also, I would try a supplement called GABA (gammabutyric acid) available over the counter at any local drug store or pharmacy. This has a neurotransmitter calming effect. Perhaps also, if older, say over 40, melatonin supplements will help quell anxiety and give a good sleep, if taken before bedtime. But of course, exercise probably is the simplest and best remedy. Hope this helps.

Look on the internet for something called d-mannose. This is a naturally occuring sugar so absolutely no side effects. You dissolve some in water and drink it. It tastes slightly sweet. It then clings onto the bacteria and carry them out of the body when you urinate.

I have read many testimonials of people who have had recurring UTIs for years and it has cleared them up. I have also used it myself and keep some at home and as soon as I start to feel the slightest hint of an infection, I take some and it never develops.

Antibiotics are not effective for many of the bacteria that cause UTIs and it's really bad for you being on antibiotics all the time.
I have also found that cranberry is not effective for most people. This is because as soon as sugar is mixed with cranberry juice it becomes useless.

Cranberry juice is where its at as others have said
The only thing I would add is that anti biotics can often make things worse as they destroy the helpful bacteria as well as the bad ones and I found I got thrush really badly taking them.

If you find you get this also, and in any case when taking anti biotics its useful to take live yoghurt regularly to counteract the effects of the anti biotics

Im sure youve already done this but if not, check your washing powder etc, dont use coloured loo paper, and double check all the stuff you use in the bath in case there is anything irritating you.

Best of Luck I used to suffer from it so I know how it gets you down

Regardless of what the GP said, herbs aren't useless.
Cranberry juice works by preventing the E. coli in the urinary tract from attaching to the epithelial tissue.
Buchu (Barosma betulina) is very effective as a urinary tract antiseptic and is very effective in preventing attacks.
Bearberry (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi) contains the antibacterial arbutin but is best used during acute attacks.
Lots of other things are also helpful - see a herbalist!

Homoeopathic causticum is only ONE of about 100 remedies that might prove useful for cystitis. It's difficult to find the correct remedy so you need the help of a regisitered homoeopath. However, when you get an attack, you could phone the homoeopathic helpline & ask their advice as to which remedy to buy. They are extremely effective if you get the remedy correct. Homoeopathic Helpline in the UK is open 9am til midnight every day. 09065 343404

with these type of infections it's important to keep a proper acid balance in the body. You should eat sparingly, with emphasis on whole grain products, cereals, and yogurt.

Take 2tsp. of apple cider vinegar and 1tsp. of natural honey in a glass of water with each Meal Also at least two glasses of cranberry juice daily.

use plenty of watermelon juice, carrot, beet, spinach , cucumber or any other vegetable juice.

use a powdered fiber supplement twice a day to keep the intestines cleaned. Many infections can come from the intestinal area.

Also it's beneficial to use a hot sitz bath twice a day to relieve pain and pressure.

to acidify the body use large doses of vitamin C for two weeks. Between 2,000 to 5,000mg a day.

It takes time, but these infections can be controlled.

Cranberry tablets helped me in a lot, I got them from the health food shop, after two days I was fine and feeling so much better, mine was a severe case as well. After you feel better get into the habit of drinking a glass of the juice on a daily basis. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

Not sure about herbal remedies, you could go to a herbalist, like Holland and Barratt [UK] and ask their advice, and also Cranberry juice is good for cystitis if you drink it every day.
