Fire and Ice
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice

Didn't Blake write a poem on this subject? I say that the Earth will be destroyed by neither fire or water, but it will be destroyed by fire-water.

The first time the Earth was destroyed it was destroyed by water. The rainbow is our promise from God that the world will never be destroyed by water again. Next time it'll be destroyed by fire -- read Revelation for more details.

The earth will be destroyed by humans that are too stupid to take care of their own life support system. Well, that is, the earth will be changed so as to no longer support human life. It's a self medicating problem, no worries. Next species, step forward! The meek shall inherit the earth? No, the cockroach, algae, and bacteia will be doing that. Bye bye dumb humans!

Fire. God said he would never destroy the earth by Water again and in the end it mentions fire from the sky...so that's my bet.

neither/ the earth will be destroyed my a stray meteor or asteroid that crashes in to the atmosphere. only the people around it will die instantly. the rest of us will starve because of the ash and dirt that will fly up into the atmosphere blocking out the sun and killing all plants until there is nothing left to eat.

By fire. Either we will have nuclear war, or 5 billion years of peace. After that, the sun will turn into a red giant, and engulf us in it's fire.
