I think it is depressing, poorly acted, fails to reflect eastend life and generally lousy. What do you think?

Well, I really like Eastenders and it's always been a bit depressing. I just don't like some of the storylines like who cares whether Dawn/Rob/May have the baby or not? I can't stand the actor who plays Ben Mitchell - wooden or what - and they could do with some new characters now, like a love interest for Peggy and Pat and perhaps a new family which is more representative of the East End.
And it's the only place in London where it is possible to walk about in the middle of the road, where there is absolutely no traffic at all, where everyone can park outside their own home with no parking permit and no one owns their own washing machine.

I haven't watched it for years. If I wasn't depressed when the TV went on, by the time Eastenders had finished I was practically suicidal.

I think all UK soaps are rubbish, but am not sure if I would pick Eastenders above the others.

Nope its one of the best!
Soap isnt meant to be real - it is meant to be a bit dramatic, it is soap!!! not a documentary!
Emmerdale is boring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! somebody is always dying, murder cases being dragged out for god knows how many months - thats what makes it boring
eastenders is a bit more exciting!!!

it's certainly the most depressing soap on tv, i'm surptrised any of the character want to live there, everyone is argumentative and as soon as there is a sign of any happiness whatsoever they are felled with some devastating news. and how many times has the pub employed a complete stranger only for one of their best customers to say "don't employ them, they're a drug addict/ wife beater/ theif etc" and then be answered with, " all i know is they know how to pull a pint"
the shame of it is, they use really strong story lines and sometimes tackle really thorny subjects, but you know the conclussion will be unhappiness and depression.

Dont know about it being the worst soap,it has some fine looking babes from time to time.
Worst trend in soaps is definately gay characters,gays will never be accepted by the majority so why do they keep trying to preach tolerence fpr gays?
Its very objectionable to beam gays into living rooms with kids watching.

it certainly does not reflect london life any more, only dot and jim are real cockneys , mo ,charlie, peggy and phil are pretty good, ian should be killed off, as for the new bunch get rid of all of them especially may. pat and patrick and yolande are likeable.
