They can...they're called G and PG rated movies.

There ARE clean movies, and not just G movies (Some PG movies can't really be considered clean). Indie filmmakers come out with tons of films each year, and yet, it's rare to find one with a huge fight scene or car chase, or a sex scene. It's because pretty much all the movies we see in theaters are produced by big Hollywood studios. The studios are businesses; they're not there to promote creative freedom as its main goal. And like all products, if it isn't something exciting, then it will be a waste of money. I'm definitely not saying that all action movies are exciting, and nothing else is worth watching; I don't watch a whole lot of action movies, and when I do, they are the kind with some kind of plot and character development to it, not just shoot and kill, etc. What I am saying is that in Hollywood, the first and foremost goal is to make money; the second is to make an interesting movie. Before, people were attracted to violent and sexually explicit movies, but now, an increasing number of people are turning away from movie theaters. In order to attract viewers, Hollywood will have to change tactics, and "clean" will be the new Hollywood. Cleaner, that is. At least, that's how I see it. Hope this helps!

There are clean movies - they're called G rated. Interestingly, G and PG movies make more money than R rated ones. So studios actually WANT cleaner movies.

It's just that it now feels cheap and dishonest to leave out things like sex or violence or blood. We all know these are a part of life and glossing over them just makes it seem like you're sticking your fingers in your ears and saying "Nyah nyah nyah, I can't hear you!"

Just think how silly it seems to us now when old movies or TV shows have married couples in their own single beds! Come on! I'd recommend the movie "Pleasantville" to explore this further.

I also think that we have all become very sophisticated cinematic consumers - we think about how movies are made, we've all had a lot of experience watching stuff, and we are bombarded daily with many many choices and moving images. It takes a lot more to get a jolt out of a movie audience. The first movie audience ever saw a train pulling into a station - and some people ran in fear. That just wouldn't work nowadays.

Because they'll go straight to video. If the trailers for movies don't look good, people usually won't go see 'em. I can deal with some swearing and sex in movies but I think that too much is overkill. I mean, having the "F" word in every sentence isn't necessary and showing people having sex for 10 minutes is crazy, too.

Because Sex and Violence is a part of life
Besides - if you want clean movies, watch G rated flicks

Hollywood being the cess-pool that it is, banks on what sells and what sells is sex and violences, its actually a socio-economic relationship. We are brought up watching cowboys shooting bad guys, gangster killing for respect, beautiful women who are selling other things than their natural beauty.

Yep, sex & violence is what sells tickets these days. Bottom line is if movie makers want to get paid, they have to make movies they know people will watch.

All the 'G' rated ones are, maybe you should stick to those Pollyanna.... Personally I LIKE swearing and violence and sex in the movies I watch.

Ozzie and Harriet films don't sell any more. People want to see the fantasy of sex and violence.
