I have one child, he's now 2.
I started to dilate early and was put on bed rest for the risk of preterm labor.
The bed rest was about to be lifted when all of a sudden I got severe preeclampsia. My blood pressure was very high and they had to induce me at 36 weeks exactly. (At that time I was dilated to a 3 but was at a 1 for several weeks prior.)
(My blood pressure, before and after my pregnancy is on the low side.)
He was a very healthy baby and weighed in at 6lbs, 1oz. My doctor said he would have been well over 8lbs if I had gone to full term (which is what I was expecting since my husband and I were both over 8lbs).
Good luck and congratulations!!!

that is referring to natural births. Yes a longer pregnancy is statistically more probable for a first timer.

But there are also many preemies and there are often reasons to induce which brings baby early. I was induced in 3 of 4 pregnancies for extreme blood pressure and toxemia signs in the last month.

It is hard to wait, but remember that baby gets the best start if you go full term. Also it is still about you when you are pregnant which can be nice even if you are uncomfortable and edgy. When baby arrives you disappear for awhile.

Congrats - That trip to the hospital is the trip of a lifetime-

My son was late. I was due on Nov 29th and had him Dec 4th. even if you are a 2nd or 3rd time mom you still have a chance of your baby being a few days late. The due date is not an exact date it's just an estimate. Very few people actually have their baby on that day. Some people have their babies a few days early. It just depends on when your body and your baby are ready for the process of labor and delivery.

I really didn't believe that!! And I was really upset 4 days and waiting after my due date!! I thought the whole time I would be early, because he was so big, but NO my little man was so comfy he stayed for an extra 4 days!! They say, who ever they are, that if you have a boy its more likely to be after the due date!
Hope your on time!!

I am a mommy of a two year old and she was born a week early and was my first, although my best friends first born was two weeks late, my theory on this is babies come when they are good and ready, just worry about having a good healty baby and worry less about the due date.

Well I really can't help you with that cuz my first baby was 6 wks early. BUT>............ I do know that some first time moms deliver after on right on Due date and that labor is longer because it is your first time.

I hope this helps you.

Mine was 2 weeks early- but only because they induced me. At that time I hadn't dropped or effaced or dilated yet so I was thinking that the baby was going to be at least a few days late.
