If an embryo is a child, then why do we count our ages from the date of birth, rather than the date of conception?

Morgy: Yes, sweetheart, I know it's called a BIRTHday. And that's my point. WHY do we measure from THAT day, as opposed to the conception day? Shouldn't we all be nine months older than we actually say we are, if an embryo is a child? Or does that not count because it isn't about abortion?

To everyone who claims that you can't pinpoint the exact day of conception: every woman who gets pregnant is told what her date of conception was. That is how they calculate the due date. So we might as well use the date of conception to judge a person's age.

And no, you idiots, I didn't "answer my own question" because I asked why we use the date of birth to calculate AGE, not to determine our BIRTHDAYS. Learn to read.

Your asking a question to the most hypocritical people on earth. If you get an intellegent answer, you'll be the first. Ok, let me tell you what you are going to do with your life. Most of your answers will be from men that will never face this situation.

Because you have a BIRTH-day, not a CONCEPTION-day. Besides, birthdays are definite, conception is a bit hazier...then again, might be cool having a weeklong party.

By the way, out of curiosity, how do you know how many abortions are had by people who CHOSE to have sex?

Because in medieval times when the tradition started, we did not have the technology or knowledge that we now have.

A child was born at 20 weeks gestation in October of 2006 weighing only 10 ounces, she went home from the hospital last week.

Life is precious and we should preserve it, not destroy it.

Genesis 2:7
7. And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into
his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

IOW, it is only a living soul when it begins to breathe. No breath, no life.

How would you know the exact day and time of conception first of all? That's an odd question.

This custom was started before we had so many murdered embryos that we could use to figure out that these are, in fact, unborn human beings.

because you can't put an exact time on conception. and if a child is not alive until birth why do women go to ob/gyn's for health check-ups.

Because time of conception is hazy. Plus it is tradition dating way back from before we had the medical knowledge we do know.

And it's not anti-choice. It's Pro-life and Anti-life.

Why can a man be charged with a double homicide when he kills a pregnant woman?
