I got my boyfriend Need For Speed Carbon for his birthday last week and he's been dissapointed because about 10-15 minutes into gameplay, the game just shuts down on him.

I've had someone tell me that I need a new harddrive because of the way it sounds. It's not loud, it doesn't hum - it just sounds like the fan, and what it's suppose to be doing. But could this be the problem?

I'm running on a 40 gb hardrive with 640 MB Ram and 1.20 Ghz. My hard drive is only half full and the game itself only takes up 512 MB Ram. So what's the deal?

I've also heard speculation about the temperature of the computer. I downloaded a problem called speed fan which measures the temperatures in the computer. The thing is I have no idea what it means, what normal temperatures are and what overheating temperatures mean. Could someone help me?

Hi Ashley.
This game has many known bugs and EA never really bothered to fix them. Your temps are normal so I wouldn't worry about that. Does it happen with any other games?
I really doubt its your PC but the game it self.

known bugs include but not limited to:
CTD (crash to desktop)
BSOD (blue screen of death)
Multiplayer issues

Did you install the patch v.1.3? it fixes some problems. If you don't have it you can download it in the link provided below. http://www.gamershell.com/pc/need_for_speed_carbon/

Well, none of those temps shown are over the limit that would cause a shutdown like that. But those things are rarely accurate. The fact that it shows -50 degrees celcius on one of them says that it is probably completly inaccurate.

The fan is probably going on the video card. Your best bet would be to take the side panel off the computer and feel the heatsink on the video card while the game is running. If it is too hot to touch, then you definitely have a heat issue.

A temporary fix would be to just aim a standard house fan to blow air inside the case. This will allow him to play it until he can get the fan replaced on the video card.

High hard disk temps shortens the life of a hard drive by a lot 30 - 35 degree's C is ok anything about 40 is getting towards dodgy, if you hard drive is humming do a back up of your data and get it changed you're heading for a failure what you can hear is the bearings, hard drives run almost silent when their ok and you can only hear a faint clicking when it's reading or writing

Generally this is a problem of overheating!!(If ur hard disk is fine), make sure that when you play the game nothing is in process in the back ground.
press Ctrl+Alt+del together, a new window will appear in front of you, go to "Process" tab there if it show something like 40-45 processes then remove the extra softwares from ur comp. Make sure that the RAM is fine, take it out clean it and then place it again...... if still nothing works then try formatting your mchine.......

Hi. 49 degrees for a hard drive is way too hot. The case probably need better ventilation and fans are cheap!
