It's ok, not everyone is expected to be a computer whiz. I would be out of a job if that was the case.

All you have to do is go into my computer. Right-click (that is the other mouse button that you don't normally use) on your "C" drive and go to properties. From there go to the "tools" tab and click on the disk cleanup. Then you have to choose what you want to delete. Most anything on there will be fine.

It might help you if your hard drive is almost full. But it will not give you a huge increase.

You should also look into defragmenting the computer, that is on the same menu.

Disk Cleanup is more for making more space on your hard drive than speeding up the computer. It usually deleted files you don't need without much concern. As previously stated, Disk Defragmentor has more of an impact on performance but most of the time its minimal. The least expensive and yet the most effective performance boost is to add more RAM/memory. I was amazed when I went from 512 MB to 1.5 GB. It was like night and day.

5 Ways to Speed Up Your Computer's Performance
1.Use Disk Cleanup
Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories,
point to System Tools, and then click Disk Cleanup. If several drives
are available, you might be prompted to specify which drive you want
to clean.

2. use Disk Defragmenter:
Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories,
point to System Tools, and then click Disk Defragmenter.
Click Analyze to start the Disk Defragmenter

3.run the Error Checking utility
In the My Computer window, right-click the hard disk you want
to search for bad sectors, and then click Properties
n the Properties dialog box, click the Tools tab.
Click the Check Now button.
In the Check Disk dialog box, select the Scan for and attempt
recovery of bad sectors check box, and then click Start

4.Protect Your Computer Against Spyware
5. Cleaning out the folder c:\windows\prefetch

Well, it could make your Internet go faster, still it's not a processor cleanup. Depending on the windows program you use, it can be different. Usually it will delete old site addresses (that you didn't access lately) and cookies you don't use. If you want to make your computer go faster, try the defragmentation option. But take care it will be long until it ends ;) !

Click start, all programs, accessories, system tools....
From there run disk clean up after that run disk defrag (if you have never ran either one of these it could take some time until it is finished. Do not use the computer while either one is running)

If computer performance has not improved then you maybe infected with a virus or spyware.

click on the start button; go to All Programs & System tools. Go down to Disk Cleanup & double click it. It will check your hard drive & let you know what should be removed.
You have the option of unchecking anything you DON'T want removed!!! It will tell you how much space the process will free up!!! Good luck!!!

START>PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES>DISK CLEANUP

it may speed it up...what it does is free up space by deleting temp files and other unneeded things...more space means more room for the windows virtual memory file...which makes it faster but if you have other issues it may not....
