Today is International Women's Day. I was reading different features on this day in a newspaper. While reading different successful and unsuccessful stories a question rise in my mind which i want to share with you all. What's youropinion about women's success or failure in science &Technology world. I have found many of my friends (both girl and boy) saying Technology is men's world. What you people think is it a men's world or there should not be any such mentality regarding education as anyone can comeout with flying colours through hard work and devotion??

There should be no such mentality regarding education. Sure, females show a slight disparity in logic/reasoning/math scores in our country - but in countries like Japan, where women are not EXPECTED to show such a disparity, they don't! Our culture raises little girls in the expectation that they will fail in science and math ... and so a lot of them do. There's no doubt, however, that women can and have achieved both scientific and mathematical greatness: Ada Lovelace is known as one of the first computer engineers, Theano was the discoverer of the 'golden ratio', Sofia Kovalevskaya was a great mathematician who did great work on completing the method for rotating solids and she was the third woman ever to be allowed a position as a professor, Yvonne Barr is a virologist and discoverer of the Epstein-Barr virus ........the list goes on and on and on!!! Don't be discouraged by the sexism of your 'friends'.

Yes definitely there is no work which can be differentiated by sex.It is mentality and the surrounding which matters and as u say through hard work and devotion, dedication everyone is able to achieve success.

I find it insulting, men don't get special attention for their scientific works, neither should women. Gender should play no role in ones occupation, or be used as an excuse to place one on a pedestal above the rest.

I used to work in tech world, and there were very few female engineers, I now work in the science world, and there are quite few female scientists. Regardless, I think whoever can get there with their education, experience and their talent, they should be there, no matter race, religion or gender.

Women are weak in S&T because they possess less ability in deductive logic.

This got the president of Harvard U. fired, but it is the truth.
