windows service pack 2 is avalible from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/default.mspx
service pack 2 is a major xp update,it basically brings xp completely secure and up to date
sp2 adds a firewall to your p.c and also has a security center which will warn you if you dont have 1)anti-virus software(up-to-date) 2)automatic updates 3)firewall
if any of these are off or out of date a warning message will appear in the taskbar and recommendations on what to do
note:you must be using a genuine windows xp to download service pack 2,if you try to install sp2 on a copied version of xp it wont install
however most recent versions of windows xp have sp2 included on the disk,so either you have a older version of xp or your version may be not genuine
if that is the case you will need to either 1)obtain a product key from microsoft or 2)buy a new copy of windows xp
good luck
