Yes I do that alot.
I do it because I put the water on to boil then get occupied elsewhere, usually here and completely forget I had water on untill the kettle only has,like, 1/4 of the water it originally had in it !!!

or when you forget about the kettle boiling and by the time you get to it the water has evaporated so then you have to boil water all over again just to have a cup of tea? yes many times lol.

I just always check first, or I did when we lived in England and used a kettle. Now if I'm making tea I just do it in a mug in the micro, and yes, I know that's the wrong way but I don't usually have time for anything else.

the kettle is so deceiving. I always feel like I put to much water in. I did that yesterday. AHH.

OMG yes! By the time you boil a little more water, the tea you've poured has become cold.
