It is based on how many questions you have answered. I do not know how many you need to be a "Top Contributor".

i guess its for the people who contribute the most to a certain category i personally think it sucks its like putting a label on people. yahoo needs to chill with all these dumb upgrades and concentrate on the spammers and point gamers all this extra stuff is dumb :(♥
