I have a 87' Nissan Pathfinder, we have changed plugs/ wires, rotor cap, dist.cap, also throttle sensor, and someone said it could be a fuel filter or vacuum leak. I start it and when I go to drive and accelorate, it dies. Sorry I didn't clarify.

first off it would be helpful to know if the care idles normal until you put it in gear. If this is the case then I would suspect the timing belt rather than a vacuum leak, However The fuel filter could cause this as well. Vacuum leaks can be very difficult to find and would be hard to clarify. Hope this helps you to some degree.

You may have a clogged catalytic converter.
Start the engine and install a vacuum gauge in a good vacuum port, raise the rpm's and watch the needle on your gauge. If it slowly begins to lose vacuum pressure, then you have a clogged exhaust system, probably the catalytic converter.
good luck..........

If you have not replaced the fuel filter in a long time, check that option 1st, you will get the same symptom. The fuel pump would be another item to check too.
