It is because Indonesia is part of the "Pacific Ring of Fire" which is a zone where most disasters ( earthquakes etc..) happen.
Countries that lie in the "ring of fire" includes Philippines and Timor.

My mother would say it is because of the way they are. God is getting his revenge through these things hehe. In all seriousness - I think it's the way the world is going.
In regards to the tsunami - it's mother nature. They are on an unstable plate so these things are going to happen. Same with the earthquakes.
In regards to the transport crashes. There are a lot of maintenance problems or driving problems and that again can come down to money and finance.

Natural disasters like quakes and tsunamis are due to tectonic movement, and weather is an issue because of the oceans and topography. As the Realtor would say "Location, location, location" Pilot error can happen anywhere.
