Maybe it's not domestic violence as you knowit but I believe if we all live in the same country, then the country is our home.

Therefore I still call it domestic violence.

I am sure if it were the reverse she would'nt get away with it !
Don't worry ! people like that always get whats coming to them .. (i.e. the policeman)

Can I say if it were my child them that brute, or brutes would pay dearly!

You do not treat women in that fashion, matters not the colour of their skin, or racial origin..
I think he should be kicked off the police force.

One court has already found her guilty - or did you not get that far?

She is now taking it to a civil court - the right place for all the facts to be weighed and a considered judgement given.

The police officer will almost certainly be investigated by the In dependant Police Complaints system. Another correct investigatory way to go.

Sadly calling it racist with absolutely no reason to do so other than a persons skin colour is - sadly - even more racist!!!

The courts and judicial system are the correct way for this to be investigated.

The media rush to call it racist might well spur violence on the streets.

Is the policeman concerned married or living with her? No - then how could he be done for domestic abuse?

The truth is that this boils down to a simple question - was his action justified? The press cannot answer that and neither can anyone outside of the courts.

Remember the recent prostitute murders in Ipswich? The trial by press of the first suspect before they caught the real murder? Did you know he subsequently committed suicide?

Ignorance causes far more damage than can ever be done by this police officers actions. If there is violence on the streets following this it will be directly down to media hype and questions such as yours.

What a daft question, of course he can't be 'done' for domestic abuse. As other posters have explained, 'domestic' refers to incidents within the home or relationship.

And as for saying that the only people defending him are men who beat their wives, I am and a wife and I am completely on the side of the Police. It's about time the Police were defended and respected for the job they do.

How do you come up with the racism theory? was there a sound track that I didnt hear.Every time some black person is involved with authorities we get the racism theory.Last week I was stopped on my way home from the pub by a black policeman,he was very civil to me and I was soon on my way, should I report him for picking on me because I am white?

Domestic Violence occurs within the home (e.g. between partners, family memebers, etc), hence 'domestic'.
The officer may have committed common assault or ABH (dependant on injuries) if it is proved that his use of force was not reasonable in the circumstances.
Remember, though, 'innocent until proven guilty'.

He should be done for something and can the cop holding her legs be done for assisting a criminal act?

Funny how many cases about police get thrown out because they are doing it in the line of duty isn't it speeding for example is apparently just them practising driving fast etc!

Domestic abuse is abuse in the family. I doubt he was married to her or related to her in any way!

She wasn't pinned down.

"She now began to kick, spit and made attempts to bite me ... she tried to grab handfuls of my genitals and knee and kick me in the same place," Mulhall said in a statement after the arrest, "

And he didn't 'beat her up' either as she required no medical attention.
