I've been called twice. The first time I got thrown out because it was a drunk driving case and I was an ER nurse. The second time it was a misdemeanor case and I was elected jury foreman. It was interesting to watch the case unfold and then to go into deliberation. I kept calling the judge in to ask questions and he answered them correctly. But the end result was that we all agreed she was guilty, 2 would not cast a guilty verdict because of a technically in the wording. Very frustrating.

The positive is that you get to miss work, and even if you can't stay home, you get a whole day of just hanging out and people watching - you can think up some really cool profiles for people at the courthouse, like what they did, why they are there, etc.
The negative is you probably won't get called, and if you do, you might not get paid from work AND that's a long time to people watch! Have fun!

There are no positives. Unless of course if you hate your job. If you do, then you get to miss work and get paid to do it.
The sad thing is that the jury is supposed to be made up of our peers, but honestly the people on a jury are far from that.

Negatives - it can be boring, and not all employers will pay you full salary for your time away.
Positives - you might get an interesting case, and it will get you away from work for a bit.
