It would be Assault. Saying that you say accidental... does your boss say different?

I did a case like this once where the man spilled lighter fuel on this persons head and set it alight. He said it was accidental. The jury found him guilty of attempted murder and was sentenced to 8 years imprisonment.

You don't say whether your boss is male or female which is quite important (length of hair burned and all that stuff). Also you don't say what business you are in. If, for example, you work in a fireworks factory I would say you are a danger not only to your boss's hair but also to your fellow workers. Where do you stand legally? This is a hot and burning issue. You will need a flaming good lawyer whose arguments light up the courtroom. If you don't know such a lawyer go to accidentsRus.com and ask for Bernie -- he's a match for anybody.

I think out of sheer curiosity, we all need to know exactly how this went down. I guess it depends on your boss. I know it was an accident, but were you supposed to have fire where you were, or what? I think it may depend on the circumstances in this case. Accidents do happen.

oh dear.........the fact it is your boss does not alter anything (other than you'll probably be looking for a new job!)
If you can proove what you were doing was reasonable and it truly was an accident you'll be OK. What happened? We'd need to know the details really

Give up smoking or carry a personal fire extinguisher and if in doubt let him burn to death next time.

Not a cool move! I've glad that it was accidental, but it still won't stand you in good stead no matter what.
