I am 22 weeks and wanted to know how can you make the difference between gas and the baby movement?
Sometimes I feel something for about 5 minutes non stop. can it be the baby moving, kicking for so long?

You will definatly know the difference when it happens. when it happens you know what it is automatically it's like a mother instinct thing!.

It is the baby moving congrats!

When i was 22 weeks i asked this same exact question! Some people said that i should know when its gas because it will come out of my bottom, but that is not necessarily true. I think everyone has gas sometimes that just rumbles in your belly and never really comes out. That said, i know why you are feeling a little confused. I still have problems sometimes telling what was a kick and what was not and i'm 25 weeks and 5 days. It takes some time. Baby is still really small. For every kick that you feel, there is another one that you probably don't feel. As time goes on and you get a little further along, try this: lay on your left side or your back(back works best for me but some people swear by the left side) relax and have something really sweet and really cold to drink. Lay in this position for about 20-30 minutes. Try to really tune into your belly and nothing else. After a while you will probably feel a few good thumps or movements. Goodluck!

I'm 24 weeks and on my third child. You should start feeling the baby move around 16 weeks. If it's your first it does feel like gas or butterflies. At sixteen weeks my baby was moving non stop. A good trick to try is get something really cold to drink and lay back. That works everytime with me. Or after you eat they tend to get jumpy. It's more than likely the baby. After work when I come home and lay down the baby will roll around and kick till I fall asleep. They feel everything you feel so if you are tensed up or moving around alot it's not going to move that much but once you relax thats when they get going.

Baby moving is usually up higher and toward the front for me, like somewhere near the surface of your belly. Whereas gas is down lower closer to your bum. In a couple weeks you'll definitely be able to tell :)

with the baby you can actually feel something moving and feel it on the outside. gas is air bubbling and is followed by passing the gas. in a few youll see the movement

hey! you sound like me!
I'm 22 weeks pregnant and have the same feeling! my baby is breech so I feel all those little kicks down low. It feels like gas .. and it never is .. it's my little peanut bouncing in there :)
(it can go on for several minutes!)

To me the kicks feel exactly like gas .. kinda like air in the tummy .. but nope! it's peanut! :)
I can tell it's not gas .. because I don't have the urge to pass gas afterwards.

good luck! God bless!

PS - I'm 22 weeks, due 07/07/07 ... I'm sure your due date is right around there too! :)

I knew it was the baby when I could feel movement back and forth. Gas doesn't do that.

That's your baby!!! Those little things can really get going and seem to move all the time. Try putting your hand down there on your belly next time and I bet you'll be able to feel it from the outside too!!
Congrats!!!

This sounds to me like it MIGHT be gas. I couldn't ever feel my babies moving that much constantly till much later.
