Here's the situation. I realize that for me to be happy in life, I'll have to start my own business. I really enjoy delivering bad news. The worse it is, the better. I made sure I was the one to tell my brother his dog died. It's very weird. But since I am that way, I want to put it to use and start a company that delivers bad news. If a doctor doesn't want to tell the patient something horrible, he hires me to do it. I tell the bad news, then give treatment options and then when they start asking questions, the doctor comes in. I'm thinking of also doing it for any kind of bad news. If a wife doesn't want to tell her husband that she wants a divorce, she calls me and I tell him. I want to deliver all sorts of different bad news... Is this a feasible idea?

You could record the calls and make it into a radio show segment. :P

Seriously, though, go into economics... they don't call it "the dismal science" for nothing! Think about how much bad news Alan Greenspan delivered when he announced an interest rate hike! Those with variable-rate loans now have a higher monthly payment and may end up in foreclosure.

If you're a sadistic person (you seem to be), you could work as a loan officer... you could deliver the bad news that someone is denied credit.

Funny but its a good idea. If there's such a thing as a singing telegram, then maybe your idea might work but to be realistic - would you pay someone else to deliver bad news to your wife, mother, father, sister, friend? During times of "bad news" a familiar face is always comforting than a stranger's face... I don't think doctors would "outsource" a third party just to deliver bad news. But heck - why don't you give it a try? You'll never know until you've tried, right?

After seeing this and your last question I would like to suggest that perhaps you speak with a therapist regarding your 'unique ability.' There is just something not right about wanting to be the bearer of bad news.
