Actually, David G is right, a DVR has been a godsend in dealing with this, but some still slip through if we're not paying attention, or if we're watching live and need to take a break.

Yeah, true, ED commercials are also aired and some really gross slasher film ads too.

Education is not a bad thing, and my policy is that if they ask, I tell. But I HATE being bombarded with this crap. I want to educate on my terms not on Merk's.

I totally agree. They also put provocative comercials on during Nanny 911 and supernanny, two shows that my kids love. My daughter has asked me what erectile dysfunction is! I also take offense at that new chap stick commercial. Don't get me wrong I am not a prude but we are trying to teach our kids not to be promiscuous but they constantly jam sex down their throats. I wish I knew what the answer is to prevent this.

Well, they're trying to hit ALL the people watching the show, and it's not just your kids watching. If you're trying to control what they watch, turn it off or the sound down during commercials. And we get all those commercials because it's FREE TV. These are the people sponsoring the shows. With a good antenna or rabbit ears, you don't have to pay for TV at all. Personally, I controlled what my kid watched by geting rid of cable, and educating him about what was on, both the shows AND the commercials. Now that he's older, he understands what a hard sell is and doesn't fall for all the hype you see in commercials. Instead of getting frustrated, use it as a teaching tool. Or just turn it off and wait for the show to come out on DVD.

With 1 in 4 people infected, with or without symptoms, it's become a demand. Your kids have to watch diabetes commercials too. Same principal, but I wouldn't worry about it. It's good for them to know there are horrible things out there you can catch or develop if you're not aware and careful. Knowledge is good. Ignorance is bad.
PS: Mom, Dad, your kids are going to be interested in sex... and probably have it, whether they see it or not. If they don't know anything about it, it'll be more enticing, and they're more likely to make bad decisions.
