If you say the end of communism in Europe, any decent historian would tell you that the Soviet Union and its communist satellites were destroyed from the inside out. Reagan's presence in the White House was a coincidence.

Regardless of your (and other obviously liberal) opinions, most presidential scholars have him picked as one of our top five presidents.

Do you think its because he accomplished nothing?

Addn: Thumbs down for pointing out a fact. The liberal sense of logic is so amusing.

He accomplished his biggest role as an actor by conning the American people into voting for him for President. Then "acted" out his presidency for the next 8 years.

You're absolutely right, he did not end the cold war, as the GOP would have you believe.

Trickle down economics (Reaganomics) did not work then and it doesn't work now. Giving tax breaks to the very rich does not trickle down into the middle or lower classes. It never did. That is why there is such a disparity between the rich & the poor in the US.

It's stealing from the poor to give to the rich. (Robin Hood in reverse). Every tax exemption in the past 6 years under the Bush Adm., has been for the rich. Every tax cut, has been against the middle class & lower class.

Great for the economy if you can afford stocks & bonds (which most Americans can't). Most are struggling to keep their heads above water.

Reagon was not a good politian in office. He was just a good actor in office.

Johnny2 (and the other Reagan propagandists) needs to cough up some evidence for his claims that historians believe Reagan to be a great president...

Since some here seem to be be allergic to facts, I'll try to help:

"Nearly 500 of the nation's top history professors responded to the Murray- Blessing update survey on presidential performance. They placed Reagan 28th on a list that includes 37 of the 40 U.S. Presidents." -- Time Magazine, April 15, 1991.

Of course, since then and since he recently passed there's a huge wave of revisionism going on about Reagan right now. But this, too, shall pass...

Even if you do give him a hall pass for being in the right place at the right time regarding the cold war, his record on Islamic terrorism (including the ineffective bombing of Libya) was dismal and inept.

He managed to bust up the Air-Traffic Controllers Union which was the beginning of the end for decent unions in America. I don't know why people revere him so much, he really hurt the economics of this country. Reaganomics, there's another thing. I wish someone could explain to me the trickle down effect of rich people getting more money and that trickles down to everyone, because it seems like nonsense to me. Rich people get money and they put it up so as to get richer, they don't spend it. Poor people get money and they have to spend it, so it seems to me like that helps the economy more. I don't understand Reagan's appeal. Not long ago on the History Channel he was voted the "most influential American EVER" . Sorry about the rant, I just don't get it.

You can't have it both ways. Where as I am not a Republican...At all. Reagen over saw the defeat of soviet communism, he gets the credit. You can't pick and choose at your discretion when a president gets all the bad legacy and when he gets the good legacy.

Trickle Down Tax Breaks.

It is a bullshit tax break for the ultra rich so they can spend there money that should have been spent on taxes, by letting them spend it on the luxuries.

If the ultra rich save money on taxes, they will buy a yacht and the poor peasants of America can go and work for the yacht company. This was told to us that it would grow the economy, but guess what..............all it did was make the ultra rich ultra richer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's no bullsh it

5 cents answers it , as that is about what your question is worth, and the rest of you damned idiots who want to put Reagan down are pretty damned stupid, as if not for Reagan, you and I both would probable be trying to learn how to speak Russian about now,are you so ignorant that you don't remember what happened in the 80s when the Israeli's gave our secrets to Russia about our radar guided missiles, and they developed a system to turn any missile back on us had we fired one? they had nuclear subs surrounding America, in my opinion they were on the verge of attacking us , Reagan went to the U,N, to ask for their help in making Russia adhere to the Kennedy's pitiful little agreement to where Russia could not have more than 2 nuclear subs in Territorial waters , they had 22 only 2 other country's voted for us England, and I believe it was a little island called Togo, so no help there, then Reagan bluffed Russia with his threats of neutron bombs he claimed were already in Russia, he bluffed them until he got his Star wars in operation, then Russia could not compete, sure he ran up a deficit, had you rather have a deficit or be under Russian rule?
I am sure some of these damned commie proffessors , writers etc will try to put Reagan down as a bad president, they are still mad about Reagan killing the commies in Russia, and the Zionist lost their hopes of becoming world rulers,

Treason! By aiding and abetting the enemy by arming Iran--the very definition of treason in our Constitution.

He got our economy back on track after Jimmuh Carter had it nearly destroyed. Do you remember the 18% interest rates in the late 70's. The lines of cars waiting on fuel? Reagan did more good in a week than Clinton did in his entire presidency.
