david l, I remember the 50s and 60s and it was the republicans that first had the courage to stand up and extend rights to the african americans while it was the democrats who stood in the way.
It was a republican president who sent national guard troops to desegregate schools in little rock, and a democrat governor who tried to block the door. It was a republican president who tried to get a civil rights bill passed in 1957, and the democrats in the senate who watered it down. It was the democrats who fillibustered both the civil rights act of 1964 and the voting rights act of 1965 to try to stop them from getting passed.

Its obviously not I who has a short memory, the democrats didn't set african americans free, they were the ones who throughout america's history were trying to prevent them from being free.

Yes, some democrats supported slavery, segregation and jim crow. So did republicans at the time.
For those of us who remember the 1950s and 60s, however, it was the democrats whose courage to change created the climate where blacks could gain the rights they have today. Without John and Robert Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson, all democrats, the segregationists would have continued to suppress dissent with firehoses, riot police and lynchings.
That, oh short memoried one, is why blacks tend to vote democrat. They remember who set them free, and it wasn't just republican Lincoln, who would not be a republican today.

It has nothing to do with slavery or anything like that, its just that as a whole, the african american community sadly has a lower income rate that some other groups, and that democrats give more money to organizations that help causes like that, and that their higher-tax policy helps people who have a little less money.

Respectfully, allow's examine the record. The Civil Rights Act does no longer have exceeded with out bipartisan help. Senator Dirksen R-IL led the GOP help and replaced into instrumental in getting it exceeded. It wasn't a Dem or GOP situation as a lot as a close-by situation. truly, different GOP Senators were on board rallying help, at the same time with Sen Goldwater R-AZ. for my section, the GOP is for allowing persons to assist themselves and the Dems are for social courses to assist human beings. both activities imagine they are extra useful suitable for confirm the country's complications.

because a long time ago, they (Dem) would be the ones who helped out the blacks and poor people. These days people need to see past that, and vote for the people who will help everyone. slowly but surely, those people will see past that and vote for the right person, Dem or Rep

I was wondering about that myself. Maybe because of the whole Clinton years. And the fact that democrats are pro-welfare.

They falsely believe that the demon rats have their best interest at heart. It's sad that so much of the democrat strategy revolves around hiding their true identity.

the liberal party changes it's views as often as the wind blows.
Now they are "for" gun control.
What a bunch of loonies.
Let's elect clinton and let another clinton make a joke out of the whitehouse.
