I agree with other posters on here. There is a difference between acting rich and being rich. Most people that flaunt what they buy and how much they spend have some serious problems and if they are truly wealthy won't be that way for long.
Seriously wealthy people may talk about money because that's what interests them and working class America is afraid of money. Any time salary or money is brought up in a working class home it always leads to negativity.
The secret to true wealth is financial responsibility. If we were all taught it in school like any other subject I'm sure the world would be a happier more debt free place.
Money is not the root of evil. Money is a tool used to create wealth. Wealthy people do not WORK for their money. Their money works for them.
There are lots of million and billionaires that don't live that kind of lifestyle, but they do have a security of knowing that their future and the future of their family is well taken care of.

The people I know with serious money do not look down on anyone else. May I suggest that people with a lot of money have confidence. Meaning can you think of anyone with a lot of money (that they have earned) that lacks confidence.
It is not always about the money. The most important things in life are 1)peace of mind 2) health 3) loving relationships then 4) money. If you had just money and did not have the first three that would suck, but if you had the the first 3 and no money you would still have a pretty good life.

Well if you want to look at it from a very objective place, I think we all feel like we are better and less than somebody. I see it in very small children too young to be jaded.
Do you think that you are better than them (the rich) because you have more wholesome values? Many people think they are better because of their looks, intelligence, whatever, and there is also always someone who is nicer, stronger, whatever.
I was shocked to find very young children comparing themselves to others, but it lead me to believe it is part of human nature. I suppose being aware of it and trying to keep a reasonable handle on it is the best we can do.
I do not believe there is any such thing as a person who is completely free from ego. Even the Dali Lama was raised to be told how special he was, and while he may not consciously think he is not better than anyone, it is easy from his place of privilege and admiration to proclaim peace and love. If he had been born into a different situation, he may think the other Dali Lama was better than him.
Also you could look at the fact that there are pecking orders in animal groups, which is quite natural, and many use aggression to get to the top.
Hope this helped. :)

No - these people are no better than anyone else, but you shouldn't get too down on them.........they are just made of different stuff to you.
There is obviously a need for these people in the industries they work in, or else the companies that employ them would not feel the need to pay them such huge salaries and bonuses.
So........I look at it along the lines of the Wall Street guys are as important to our society as the guy who sweeps the street outside. They may be payed differently, but they are both needed and they both eat, sleep and sh*t.......so they're all as good as the next man (or woman).

One of those who can take part of the blame for this attitude is John Calvin.
He taught that the prosperous person is beloved of God and that's WHY he's a prosperous person.
If your fields produce well, if your livestock breeds heartily and doesn't sicken, if your wife is dutiful and your children respectful, then it's solely because God thinks you're just dandy.
If your fields are eaten by insects, burnt by drought, your animals suffer with sickness and produce few or no offspring, if your wife is a shrew and your children brats, well, that's a clear sign that you're a terrible sinner and God is really P-O'ed with you.
Disgusting, isn't it?

Do you look down on all the welfare recipients shopping in your store? When the 1st of the month hits, (this is when the welfare checks are given in this area) and you store is overcrowded with them spending your hard earned tax dollars, do you look down on them? Do you ever say "why should I have to support these lazy S.O.B's?" It may not be just millionaires, who think they are better than others.

Better at what? Making money? Sure! If you want to learn, just ask. People love to share their techniques. The problem is people are so jealous that the defense mechanism used to defend oneself appears righteous. But it's just a defense mechanism.

um, i think that the Wall street guys think that they can do more than you with the money they have. but i guess that's what happens with all people who have lots of money. but sometimes, like the good people, (obviously you) make a good effort to use that money in a good way. perhaps charity?

Money has the energy of exchange when in motion. The accumulation of money is the stifling of this energy. Our material focus has taken away a standard of spirituality.

i totally agree! people who have money put their clothes on the same way we do , i would tend to think they are not all that happy since they feel the need to judge others by appearance, that says to me that they need to put others down to feel good about themselves
