No, a teacher doesn't have the right to go thru it. But now we know why kids can't spell anymore except in "text" form, they are to busy on the phone.

H*ll no,thats invasion of privacy! If cell's are not allowed in school and a student brings one anyway, then he/she is taking the chance of getting it taken away until the end of the day,but going through the phone is utterly ridiculous,,ooooo,,lucky it wasnt me,because I would have put up one h*ll of a fuss over that, and saying some things I probably shouldnt have, but thats wrong!!!

no, thats invasion of privacy. I think a teacher would be able to take the phone and put it in their desk until the end of class--but not to search through the contacts or anything else in the phone.

Hell no!! They do, however, have a right to take it from you, if you are caught using it during class, or even on school grounds during school hours. But they DO NOT have a right to " go thru" your phone!! That's your private property.

p.s. If a teacher is caught with THEIR cell phone, do the students get to "take it and go thru it??!!" Dont think so huh?? LOL

Of corz no...He/she can just take the phone..

But in my school, the teacher took an ipod (with full of battery) from a child, and at the end of the school when the child took his ipod again, he said 'my battery is low' :D of corz it isn't similar with the phone but this is not true too.

No.. they should'nt that's the student private stuff. The most they should do is take it away from you. If they went through that students messages then you should report it or sumthin.

no! in our school we have a rule that if we're caught with a phone three times, we have to turn it off and the teacher takes it and our parents have to come in to get it back-never happens though, hardly anyone gets caught lol

No, teachers don't have that right. I think some teachers do that because they think they have the power to do whatever, but they don't.
