Politics , politics ... it is the same the world over there is no such thing as an honest politician..

There are those who get caught and those who don't. That is the nature of the beast!

They are all corrupt and they do not do anything for free! they all line their pockets, it is just that the public does not know about it.

The system has been abused for centuries. Back in the 1200's Baron's were appointed simply because they gave cash to the King to fight his latest war. And it's been going on ever since. Problem now is that the awarding of honours in return for party funding is a crime - hence the cash for honours investigation now going on.

The problem arises when politicians are in power for too long. The US system has a limit of two, four-year terms for a President. We should have something similar in Britain; look at Maggie Thatcher, she went strangely adrift in the final three years of her 11 year stint in Downing Street, now T Bliar is on the same road to oblivion.

There's a well known saying, Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. It's so true, too long in powerful positions and one begins to believe one is untouchable. Wrong!!!!

It's still illegal. But yes you wouldn't get anywhere in a cut throat business like politics if you didn't "grease a few palms".

In the good old days (whenever that was) a politician who got caught would simply hold up his hands and resign, this latest bunch seem to deny everything until the evidence is utterly against them and then still wait to get sacked.

So few of them who get to the top seem to have many morals.

Power corrupts I suppose.
