My best friend, (i just noticed) has this very embarrassing problem. Her arm pits are discolored, they are almost black. I am embarrassed to tell her anything. She wears no sleeve shirts most of the time, or tank tops. I want to give her advice on how to get rid of that problem, and just walk up to her and tell her that she needs to do something about it. So what can i do?? does anybody know anything about this, i love her a lot, but i dont want other people to talk about her in a bad way. After all she is my best friend.

What a thoughtful friend you are ... honesty is the best policy for sure. The next time you two are alone and have enough time, tell your friend gently that you've noticed the discoloration (no need to mention other people speaking ill of her), and was wanting to know if you could help her in any way, even if she just needs someone to talk to. I'm sure she'll appreciate your concern.

I would just let her know! I would want someone to let me know if my pits were black! Here are some causes as to why they could turn black. Maybe if you explain to her how they might have got that way, then she would know that you did take time to research it before talking to her.

In fact, long-term use of heavily scented deodorants with alcohol and other chemicals causes skin darkening, leaving your underarms with those unsightly spots. And the longer you use them, the darker your underarms get.

These are the usual factors that cause underarm darkening: strong fragrances, alcohol and other chemical factors found in most deodorants or antiperspirants; constant friction (excessive underarm shaving or rough-textured clothing); intake of androgen-based oral contraceptives; allergy to heavy perfumes.

Just be a friend and tell her.Just say__-what is that dark area under your arm? Then tell her that she needs to take care of it.A true friend would tell and a real friend wouldn't be offended....Just do it.

I'm sure she's aware of it and it doesn't seem to bother her. If it did she would cover it up.
