Well, it depends if you want a full wardrobe or not. I am a total prep, but I seriously have to buy my own clothes. I just buy a few things whenever I'm out, and then my wardrobe grows. If you are planning to get everything accomplished in one shopping spree, it will cost you a lot since stores like Abercrombie, Hollitser, and AE are expensive. Let's say you buy 2 pairs of jeans, 2 skirts, 10 shirts (t-shirts and regular shirts), 4 camis, a pair of flats, 2 sweaters, and some accessories. That's a pretty decent wardrobe. It will cost approx:
$550!!!!
That's a pretty big price tag it you ask me. My advice is to buy some things whenever you're out. Always browse the sales in the back of the store. Once I had my heart set on a zip-up Hollister sweater, but it was $50. So I waited until it went on sale and bought it in white for $30! (but then it got mud on it... :( lol) So you will find some great sales at Hollister, and a few at Abercrombie. AE has some GREAT sales in the back. They have racks with $10 items on them sometimes! I'd really check out Hollister right now. They have some nice sales in the stores, but their clearance online right now is absolutely AMAZING! Check them out before they're gone!!! http://www.hollisterco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?storeId=10251&catalogId=10201&categoryId=12635 (I'd buy what you want now, since I was going to buy an adorable sweater theree for $10, but they sold out before I had time to!)

if you are looking to become name brand preppy it is going to cost you a pretty penny. part of my personal style is preppy just as button ups and polo shirts. good quality shirt at least for men you are lookin at 40 buck and up too 200 hundred for a nice shirt, and the pants and jeans are the same way. so honestly it is not going to be cheap, but if that is how you want to present yourself do it, it makes me feel better. i am putting my own kinda preppy wardrobe together and i have spent 1500 hundred. i am only half way there. so if you are trying to get everything at once, save up like 3 thousand.

I would say save up probably $500 or so to get stocked up on the basics.
Basics meaning...
-khaki pants, not jeans
-plaid skirt
-polo shirts in mutiple colors
-mary jane shoes
-cute, athletic white shoes
-a cardigan sweater, preferably with argyle print
Then build from there. Take a shopping trip every couple of weeks and slowly add to your wardrobe. Have fun!

and remember to be preppy u have to walk the walk and talk the talk and look at people as if there lower than u and act as if your rich,
i myself are pretty preppy but i have all the money to do so my parents are rich i buy what i want when i want and i have no limit but i do take time and treat other don't be a ***** be sweet Serene and excited not bitchy bc u'll end up having no more friends

What?? Who cares, just be yourself. Dress in a way that you're comfortable with. Don't change because you want to be popular.

Why do you want to dress preppy? Just b/c you dress preppy doesn't mean preppy people will want to hang out with you. Be yourself.

changing clothes will not change who you are. Sorry. As far as the cost? Are we talking financially or emotionally.

First and formost, you can't change who you are.
Second, it cost nothing. It will happen as nature has it happen
