No they did not.

In the 1980's Ivan Lendl, the worlds number one tennis player wanted to become an american citizen so that he could play for the USA in the olympics. He was refused becouse he had lived in the USA for only 6 years. To become an american citizen you must be a resident for 7 years. There are NO exeptions, not for Ivan Ledl, not for anyone.

if you're talking about David Beckham, your facts are all wrong. He has signed with the Los Angeles Galaxy. This is not the national team. Nor does this mean that he has become an American. He's just an Englishman working for an american company.

First, USA have to win something before you can accuse them of cheating. And US citizenship is always free. It cannot be bought. The US Congress can give US citizenship but that is only on rare occasions. They gave David Regis, a French citizen with an American wife a fast track citizenship but it still did not help the US in 1998. The US has to give half of the Brazilian team US citizenship before they win something of importance.

You need to give more details about the player. And is not considered cheating, as long as the player has not played for another National team. FIFA Rules.

And to the guy above me, no it's not Beckham. Beckham has played plenty of games with the English team.

If you are talking about Beckham, it would help if you actually had your facts straight. Beckham can't even play for the USA because he has already capped competitively for the England senior squad. So the answer to your question is no.

No, just gave him a lot of money. A guy can't do it anyway, the government has to do it.

I am guessing its Beckham he is talking about.

Please provide the player's name. I can't think of any English born players on the US team at all.
