I know it is the name of a song by Johnny Cash. Looking at the lyrics it says "give him his guitar and he'll be happy", so I am guessing that it is a guitar. I am from Tennessee and we have some weird names for stuff, so it is just a basic name for an acoustic guitar I'm guessing.

The Tennessee Flat-Top box is an acoustic guitar...usually Dreadnought in size and style...and usually used within country or bluegrass settings...it is not any particular brand guitar...the phrase is used generically...now, there have been songs with "Tennessee Flat-Top Box" used as part of the lyrics...such as Roseanne Cash's tribute to her Dad's song...

There are many references to the "Tennessee Flattop Box" as follows: in country music, in manufacturing, as a southern colloquialism, a regional dialect expression referencing any dreadnought-style acoustic guitar...etc.

There is a company named Crafters of Tennessee,

who manufactures a guitar titled the Tennessee Flattop Box.

It's an early version of an electric acoustic guitar from the 1950's made popular by a Johnny Cash song.
