I call it resting. She will lay there or sit in her swing with her eyes closed but any movement or noise around her wakes her. When she sleeps, nothing will wake her. She will rest too as long as it is quiet. Is that anything to be concerned about? Is it normal? Has anyone else experienced this?

I think it is cute. Sure it's normal. You know her hearing is good and she is responsive to her environment. Just imagine what it would be like if you lived in a small dark warm wet room and one day you woke up in down town NYC! That's what her little brain is going through. So much stimuli all of a sudden. Let her "rest" and take it in. Our daughter did that too. Enjoy it! Soon she won't want to Rest...

All babies are different but you need to remember not to get into the role of trying to be quiet when the baby naps. Otherwise they get used to that and expect it to be quiet every time they sleep. Your baby is being normal nothing wrong with that. The babies sleep pattern might be all screwy it'll take a bit to get it were you want it. You just need to be patient.

Lee Ann, congrats on your new baby girl!!! What your baby is doing is just getting awakened from light sleep. It's normal for newborns to cat nap like that.
